Welcome to Our Lady of Guadalupe's Graduate Support!
By way of introduction: Our Lady of Guadalupe Middle School puts the expertise of its well-educated staff and supporters as well as its connections to quality secondary and higher education at the service of our students and their families.

The gifts and talents discovered during the middle school years deserve to be developed in the best possible educational environments. Students have the potential make positive contributions to society as educated, informed adults. Further, they bring the unique insights and experiences of their racial or ethnic heritage to the educational environment and to their professional careers.

Michigan Graduation Requirements
In-coming sophomores and freshmen (the OLG Classes of 2006 and 2007) will be required to successfully complete the new statewide graduation requirements. To ensure that Michigan's students have the skills and knowledge needed for the jobs of the 21st Century global economy, on April 20, 2006, Governor Jennifer M. Granholm signed into law a new set of statewide graduation requirements. With these graduation requirements, students will be better-prepared for further success in college and on the job. The new standards are a requirement starting with the Class of 2011. We urge you to check your high school curriculum plan in relation to the Michigan Merit Curriculum requirements.
High School Graduation Requirements-(Public Act 123 & 124)
- Mathematics (4 credits): 1 credit each of algebra I, geometry and algebra II or 3 credits in integrated course with same content, plus 1 additional credit, such as trigonometry, statistics, pre-calculus, calculus, applied math, accounting or business math. (1 credit must be in senior year.
- English Language Arts (4 credits).
- Social Science (3 credits): 1 credit in U.S. history & geography, 1 credit in world history & geography, credit in economics and credit in civics.
- Science (3 credits): 1 credit each of biology, chemistry and physics. (The legislature strongly encourages pupils taking a fourth credit of science.)
- Health & Physical Education (1 credit): course must include content on both health and physical education.
- On-line Learning Experience Credit may be in on-line course, on-line learning experience or integrated online learning.
- Visual Performing and Applied Arts (1 credit)
Beginning with those in 8th grade in 2006, the law requires that all students meet the Michigan Merit Curriculum requirements to receive a high school diploma.
The new Michigan Merit Curriculum applies to all public schools. Currently, many private and parochial schools also choose to follow the Michigan Merit Curriculum in order for their students to qualify for the Michigan Merit Award and succeed in being ready for college and workplace demands.
Most of the high schools that OLG graduates attend have much more rigorous curriculum requirements.
