Welcome to Our Lady of Guadalupe's Graduate Support!
By way of introduction: Our Lady of Guadalupe Middle School puts the expertise of its well-educated staff and supporters as well as its connections to quality secondary and higher education at the service of our students and their families.

The gifts and talents discovered during the middle school years deserve to be developed in the best possible educational environments. Students have the potential make positive contributions to society as educated, informed adults. Further, they bring the unique insights and experiences of their racial or ethnic heritage to the educational environment and to their professional careers.

Spotlight on a Graduate
Alyssa, class of 2005
Our Lady of Guadalupe is blessed with wonderful graduates. Members of the Classes of 2004, 2005, and 2006 graduated from our school to go on to a variety of high schools. Each carries the spirit of Our Lady of Guadalupe to their new learning communities...In this section of our Graduate Support Web page we hope to focus on the achievements of individual graduates.

Alyssa, (Class of 2005), is the first to receive this OLG Graduate Support recognition. Upon leaving OLG, Alyssa entered Mercy High School, one of the most distinguished high school academic institutions in Michigan. Presently, Alyssa is a sophomore at Mercy.
Alyssa believes that academic challenge also brings opportunity, so she takes a full load of college preparatory classes. During both her freshmen and sophomore years, Alyssa elected to take seven classes during the first semester and eight classes during the second semester. This class load enabled her to study Spanish and Latin.
Alyssa’s academic work at Mercy is outstanding. She is an honor roll student after every card marking. Next year Alyssa will be signing up for one or more Advanced Placement classes.
Alyssa is also involved in a variety of high school activities including the Forensics Team where she specializing in extemporaneous speaking and oratorical declamation. Soon Alyssa hopes to complete her own oratory and compete at national level. Recently she was nominated to the International Thespian Society – To be a member of this group, you must first be nominated; then you have to be recognized by the society as giving extraordinary service to theater arts... (Our good wishes and encouragement are with Alyssa as she awaits word regarding this membership.) In addition, Alyssa is running for leadership in Mercy's Human Relations Counsel which is charged with promoting diversity and sponsoring ethnic events at the school.
Alyssa’s commitment to social justice, nonviolence, and peace is also striking. She belongs to Mercy’s Justice and Peace Club. In addition, she is a member of an urban youth group working on behalf of a peaceable, just, sustainable planet.
Another striking gift of Alyssa’s is her willingness to “drop everything” and respond to needs at Our Lady of Guadalupe Middle School. If the need is child care during a parent meeting, or tutoring assistance, or myriad other ways to serve, Alyssa is here.
Finally and most importantly growing in the spiritual life is central in Alyssa's life. For example she is just back from a weekend youth retreat."It was the most meaningful spiritual experience in her life," she says. "A time of deepening in self awareness, and deepening in relationship with God and others."
Our Lady of Guadalupe’s Graduate Support Program is delighted to recognize the growth and the deepening that has taken place in Alyssa's life. To be support and encouragement to this wonderful graduate is a joy.
